Cartoonist on nationally syndicated children’s show, Peppermint Place from 1982 through 1985.
Finalist in national Cartoonist of the Nineties Contest presented by King Features Syndicate. Clients include Frito-Lay, Texas Instruments, Presbyterian Hospital, Dr. Pepper, Southfork Ranch, IBM, Foley’s, Club Corp of America, National Audubon Society, and Dallas Zoological Society.

THE Dallas Zoo - Lacerte Family Children’s Zoo
2000 – 2004
Lead wildlife Interpreter – The J. C. Penney Discovery House
Led a team of staff and volunteers in educating and entertaining zoo visitors on animals and nature.
Created protocol and trained staff and volunteers on animal handling and interpretive techniques for live animal encounters with the public.
Performed customer service and guest relations duties for the Children’s Zoo.
Developed and presented educational programs for zoo visitors, schools and community groups. These programs included theater performances, storytelling, songs, and live animal encounters.
Responsible for inventory and ordering of all supplies for the Discovery House. This included books, learning materials, office supplies, and supplies and equipment for care of the animals.
Created and illustrated handouts, coloring books, signs and visual aids, and educational materials.
Liaison to the SPCA of Texas, maintaining a display and coordinating programs in the Children’s Zoo on humane education.

SPCA of Texas - (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals)

Operated the Paws ‘n Presents pet supply and gift shop benefiting the SPCA of Texas during the year it was located in Dallas.
Sold pet supplies and pet related gift items.
Inventoried supplies and worked with vendors to maintain and increase merchandise stock levels.
Advised new adopters on pet care needs and training.
Screened and counseled adoption applicants and served as cashier for payment of adoption fees.

TEXAS TECH UNIVERSITY - Institute for Child & Family Studies
1984 – 1987
Assistant Program Coordinator
Part of a team that created curriculum and training for Head Start directors and teachers in Texas and surrounding five-state region. Responsible for daily operations of the Dallas branch office, including inventory and ordering of office equipment and supplies.
Coordinated and hosted workshops and conferences for up to 500 attendees.
Illustrated educational materials, brochures, and posters, and edited and illustrated monthly newsletter. Presented workshops at conferences. Voted best presenter at the 1986 annual regional conference.

Assisted and supported Programming and Promotions managers and staff.
Arranged special events and talent appearances and
Prepared press releases and scripts for local programming.
Liaison for national ABC offices, maintained network information, and answered viewer calls.

Professional Speaker/Presenter
Presented humorous, motivational public speeches and programs focusing on customer service and employee enrichment. Mentored and coached fellow speakers and provided audio/visuals for presentations.
Clients included Holiday Inns, National Association of Legal Administrators, Meeting Planners International, Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Dallas, Inc., Texas Society to Prevent Blindness.

Volunteer in programs including adoption counseling, daily care of shelter animals, foster care, off-site adoptions and special events, education and community outreach programs.
Assist in training and mentoring new volunteers. Have led orientations for over 50 volunteers.
Illustrate promotional and educational materials, T-shirts, and signs. Wrote and illustrated two coloring books, one of which won a national award and is endorsed by The Humane Society of the United States and the Centers for Disease Control.
Awarded Clinic volunteer and Public Relations Volunteer of the year for 2004. Awarded Foster Care Volunteer of the Year in 2003 and SPCA Volunteer of the Year in 1995. Nominated for national President’s Service Award in 1997.

Toastmasters International
1985 – 1994
Member of national organization aiming to improve speaking and communications skills. Earned CTM and ATM designations.
Mentored new members, led workshops, and organized and hosted conferences and special events
Volunteer speaker for local civic groups and charitable organizations.
Winner of several local and area speech contests. Winner of the International Speech Contest at the District Level for two consecutive years, placing runner-up at the Regional contest level.
